Yesterday attorney Michael Avenatti, who represented adult film actress Stormy Daniels in her litagtion against President Trump to unbind her from a ‘catch-and-kill’ contract to keep their 2006 one-night stand out of the headlines during the 2016 Presidential campaign, was convicted in New York City of three counts of extortion.
Avenatti was highly visible during his representation of Stormy Daniels and played a key role in the courtroom of bringing to light other ‘catch-and-kill’ contracts that were put in place by Michael Cohen, who previously served as Donald Trump’s personal attorney and is now serving time in a federal prision for tax fraud and lying.
For a deeper dive into Avenatti’s epic Icarus downfall read Emily Jane Fox’s story in the May 21, 2019 edition of Vanity Fair.
I wonder if Cohen will seek a re-trial or adjustment in sentencing in light of Avenatti’s conviction?
Also wondering what if any mia culpas will be forthcoming from all of those media outlets who gave Avenatti time in the spotlight?
In the meantime, making the popcorn and awaiting President Trump’s taking aim at Avenatti on Twitter.
